MIU #90062 Commercial Freezer Thermometer Review

MIU #90062 Commercial Freezer ThermometerThis is a very handy gadget for me because I can monitor the temps in my fridge in different places to see where the colder and hotter spots are. It is just the right size so as not to take up too much space, and the dial is easily readable.Build quality is good, no complaints. As for accuracy, I compared it against a different brand right next to each other and the readings are similar so I will have to assume it is accurate. I'm not using it for critical applications anyway, just making sure the fridge is cold enough for safe food storage.I would buy this again.

Taylor Digital Stick On Refrigererator Thermometer Review

Taylor Digital Stick On Refrigererator ThermometerMy two main gripes are that (1) the suction cup tends to work rather poorly at cold temperatures, which is something you'd think they would have considered for this particular device, and (2) that it can be very hard to read the digits at an angle or in the refrigerator lighting, and if you remove it to read it, it will quickly fog up and also start heating almost immediately, resulting in an inaccurate reading. The second point is really mostly a nitpick, as it would be hard to fix this without going to a more expensive backlit LCD display, but the first point is a fundamental flaw.

Refrigerator/Freezer Thermometer Review

Refrigerator/Freezer ThermometerI had a problem with our freezer and wanted to get thermometers to confirm that all was working right.

These fit the bill and were price right.

They have color coded areas on the face that show the proper temps and make it very easy to visually confirm temps whenever you open the door.

Taylor Professional Freezer-Refrigerator Thermometer with 3-Inch Dial Review

Taylor Professional Freezer-Refrigerator Thermometer with 3 inch DialLet me preface this by saying that at $4.40 there isn't much risk in buying this thermometer.Given Amazon's great customer service I'm sure I can return it but it's not really worth sending it back.I've read the previous comments and 5-star ratings and I'm left wondering if anyone else checked the accuracy before commenting.I checked it out at with accurate digital and analog thermometers at room temperature of 68 degrees, at refrigerator temperature of 36 degrees, and at a freezer temperature of-2 degrees. In all cases I found the Taylor Professional Freezer-Refrigerator Thermometer to read 3 degrees lower than actual temperature. There does not seem to be any way to adjust the dial with the exception of taking it apart and moving the faceplate (not sure if that is possible without breaking it).I gave it only one star for just this reason; that you cannot calibrate the unit for error, not for the inaccuracy itself.

It does have a big dial and is easy to read but I think at the critical temperature of a refrigerator it is important to be accurate.I realize there may be many people who do not have the equipment to check out the accuracy as I do, but there is a significant difference in storing food at 37 degrees F rather than at 40.

So if you're agreeable to mentally normalizing the temp (as I will do) when you read it, I suppose you'd be satisfied with it given it's low cost. That last statement presupposes that the one you buy has the same inaccuracy as mine.Who knows, the one you get might be "right on" but how would you know that without calibrating it?
