GE GSHS6PGYSS Review

I am a little biased as a relative helps make GE motors.I have owned this for 5 months now.It replaced a used Frigidaire I had for a short time, which was 14 years old.It really replaced a very old, very small top freezer refrigerator I had for 16 years.

The GE is quiet.The compressor makes little noise.It is on the wall opposite our bedroom.I do not hear it in the bedroom.It's not an annoying noise.It is just barely audible in the kitchen.

This is real stainless.Keeping it fingerprint clean is a chore with young kids.We just let it go and clean it on the weekend.Takes about 10 minutes or so using stainless cleaner to make it sharp again.Without kids this would probably not be an issue.

The water maker and ice maker work very well.The filter gives the water a good taste.

The layout of the compartments is excellent for our needs, as you can see by the pictures.It has more than enough room for our use.

If we overload the freezer, the door will sometimes not completely close.The door open sensor does not always sense this.This results in ice build up inside the freezer, and condensation on the outside. Don't overload the freezer and this doesn't happen.

We got an excellent deal on this model.I feel we got a great fridge for the money.

GE PGCS1PJXSS 20.7CF French-Door Refrigerator W/ Armoire Double Drawer Review

I recently purchased the expensive GE 25 cu ft stainless frig with french doors and two bottom freezer drawers for my new home.The right door has to be slammed to close it when the left door is already closed.Whenever I go back to open the frig I notice it is sticking open.It is a design flaw that two service techs have verified.I have been battling GE for three weeks to give me a different model/type frig that actually works with no luck so far.The customer service department goes through the motions but will not acknowlege the flaw and do the right thing.The best I can hope for is to get a replacement of the same model with the same problem.

Be sure to test your GE french door frig in a showroom before making such a big purchase or you may regret it, like me.No other brands of french door frigs have this problem.The Maytag french door models, also sold under Whirlpool and KitchenAid brands, have a good reputation.

NEUTRAL:bottom freezer means fridge contents easy to see/access but freezer contents hard to see and older contents buried.shallow.

PROS:Attractive as these things go. Fits our space.Digital thermometers.Pleasant chimes sound out when pressing buttons. It seems to refrigerate and freeze enthusiastically and it is quieter than its predecessor. I trust it won't piddle on the floor like its predecessor did.It hasn't yet.

CONS:(i) Pull-out freezer door mechanism is very rough, metal scraping on metal. Floor models and most IKEA drawers perform better. QC?(ii)"EZ-Open Handle" on freezer drawer tends to detach in ordinary use."EZ-Broken Handle" is nearer the mark.This looks like it may be a design flaw.This didn't happen with the floor models, but it didn't occur to me that the handle should fall off, so I never thought to push the point while in the store.(iii) there are very few shelf height adjustments allowed.Consequently we removed one of the shelfs in order to fit milk and other ordinary-sized bottles.

Samsung : RB195ABWP 19 cu. ft. Bottom Mount Refrigerator - White Pearl Review

This refrigerator is garbage. It broke within the first 2 months. I lost all the food in the fridge because it failed overnight and when I woke up everything was warm. Hundreds of dollars worth of food in the garbage. To make matters worse it's going to take Samsung 3 weeks to get the parts to fix it. So I paid $900 for a fridge I can't use, lost over $200 dollars worth of food when it failed, and now I cant buy any food because I have no place to store it. HORRIBLE service by Samsung because they don't have the parts readily available to fix their products. I could not regret buying this refrigerator anymore, and now I'm stuck with it. Samsung makes great TVs, but horrible refrigerators. Buyers should avoid.

The manual that came with this fridge did not match the actual model. Tech support (Samsung)
was useless in setting up the fridge electronics. You'll have to google for proper instructions.
Icemaker tends to get knocked into the ice tray occassionally but a very good, spacious design.
I did not know how I would like water inside rather than in the door, but I have come to like this
design better than in the door models now.

Fisher and Paykel : E522BRXU Bottom-Freezer Refrigerator (Right Hinge) Review

I bought my house, and found that the previous owners had done their own kitchen remodel which left a really strange size cutout for the fridge.It took me weeks to find this one which (as far as I can tell) is the only counter depth and narrow refrigerator.Anyway, it is a good fridge.No complaints.The fridge is cool looking, but the only reason that I can think someone would buy this one is for size.If you aren't restricted by size, I would look at a wider fridge.

Good things to know... There is an inline water filter (works good, easy to change), ice maker doesn't take up too much room, the fridge is counter depth (they don't advertise it as such but you can tell by the dimensions and the back is flat).The inside is small but the fridge doesn't look freakishly small.Oh, the ice maker is temperamental; it doesn't bother me but if you love ice this could be a problem.

Almost no one carries these; if you need to "see" it I found a Samsungat the big box retailers that is about the same size.If more than two people live in your house, or you like to buy big soda bottles, etc., maybe take a peek at something with similar dimensions before you buy.

GFSS2HCYSS General Electric French Door Freestanding Refrigerator Review

We like our GE "French Door" fridge. It looks good and works fine. But don't think of getting it without the insurance plan. We've had to replace the central "brain". We've had to replace a door latch. We are getting ready now to call for a new shelf and crisper track because both have broken.
I would guess that without the insurance we would soon have put as much in repairs as we paid for the fridge. However, ours was a brand new model, and perhaps they have worked some of the bugs out. We love it. We really have no complaints. Just be sure you take the insurance when it's offered. And you can be sure we'll be renewing our policy when it expires. The service has been excellent.

Summit : FF1325SS 10.4 cu. ft. Counter-Depth Top-Freezer Refrigerator - Stainless Steel Doors Review

I purchased this fridge because I had a tiny kitchen.On a cu ft basis it is one of the most expensive fridges you can buy.I have redone 3 kitchens in the past 5 years, and have spent about $30,000 on appliances.I have never seen such poor quality.The MAIN problem is that the refrigerator slopes--the bottom is 2" further away from the wall than the top even after I adjust the legs as far into the cavity as possible--it looks like a s___ show.I called Mark Goldman (Summit customer service) to help solving the problem. First he claimed this was how the fridge was designed--the door should close slowly.I said it doesn't--it SLAMS shut.Then clearly demonstrating the design story was invalid, Mark told me I could build up my floor with shims!I said that was ridiculous for $1000 fridge (it's $300 extra for the icemaker).He said I needed proof there was a problem, so I sent an email with a photo of the slanted fridge and a photo of a 36" level on the floor to show it was level (i tried to paste photos here, but can't).Under pressure from the retailer, Summit sent a service rep.The service rep agreed the floor was level and the legs were into the cavity, so there was nothing he could do to fix the problem--that there was clearly a manufacturing or design flaw.When Summit received this information, they said since it wasn't a MANUFACTURING flaw (it was the design flaw--so ALL fridges will have the same problem), they weren't required to do anything about it.So I'm living with the problem.
As an aside, the rest of the quality is no better.the produce drawer is plastic and doesn't slide on the guides well, so soon it will break no matter how careful I am.

Our old Amana refrigerator was twelve years old and starting loosing the ability to keep food cold in the food part of the unit.After tracing the problem down to a basic design flaw, I was not sure I wanted to purchase Amana again, however, it seems most refrigerators are made by one or two makers.Thus, I went on a quest for the best looking unit for the money.

Amana has changed some of the layout for food placement, but basically this one has ample room for all the things that you want to put into a refer. It even has an extra wide door rack that will hold one gallon milk jugs with ease.This model did not have an ice maker, or a covered storage space for eggs.It does have temp controls at the top at the front for both freezer and food areas. There is also a covered storage area for butter, and a special drawer for meats and cheeses.The shelves are glass, sturdy, and adjustable.There is also ample lighting in both the freezer part and the food part of the unit.

Easy Reach is a brand name by Amana given to those units with the freezer component on the bottom.Some open like a door and this one like a drawer.The freezer does NOT have and ice maker, or even ice cube trays. The drawer is easy to use and will hold lots of frozen goods.I have not filled it yet, so I cannot say how well it keeps large quantities frozen.

To see this unit in action, watch "two and a half men" , and when they shoot a kitchen scene, the refer is this model. I discovered this after I made my purchase.Just shows that no one pays attention until you research.

For under $[...] delivered and installed, and taking away my old, and a $[...] energy rebate, the Amana ABL2222FES is a good buy.Carpetguru

Amana : ABB2221WH Easy Reach 22.1 Cu. Ft. Refrigerator - White Review

As soon as this was delivered, the odd noises started. We called the manufacturer and they sent out a serviceman out - he said the noises are normal with this model, nothing to worry about. Well, just shy of 4 months after the purchase date, the compressor went. (I lost $200 worth of food that spoiled, which loss was not covered by the warranty.) After spending an hour on the phone,Amana finally arranged to send out another service person that day who determined that it needs a new compressor. (He compared it to buying a new car and finding out it needs a new engine after 4 months.) I called Amana and asked for another unit, as I have absolutely noconfidence in this one. The customer service manager just kept reading off of his script that he was sorry for the inconvenience but the warranty only requires that they repair the unit, not replace it. So, even though I paid over $1000 for this not four months ago, I am now without a working refrigerator until the repairman can return in 5 days. I have never written any product reviews before, but maybe other consumers can save themselves a lot of headaches if they see this.

Jenn-Air : JFC2070KRW Refrigerator Review

This is a miserable refrigetrator.The doors do not shut on their own like most refrigetators. You have to physically push the doors shut. It is some function of the french door design. Very bad design that results in energy wastage and food spoiling. Also, the ice maker line seems to freeze up a lot and you don't have ice!I have tried turning down the temperature to see if the line wno't freeze but then my milk spoils. Do not get this fridge.

Maytag : MBL1956KES 19 Cu. Ft. Refrigerator - Stainless Steel Review

I started out to buy a top rated Amana Amana Easy Reach Plus Series ABL1922FES 18.6 cu. ft. Freestanding Bottom-Freezer Refrigerator with 4 Glass Shelves, Adjustable Fresh Food Door Buckets and Deli Drawer: Stainless Steel/Left Hinge Door but it turns out that this is basically the same machine with a few nicer touches, like see-through bins. They are made by the same company.This fridge is pleasant to look at and does not jut out much beyond our counters, so it fits nicely in the kitchen.The inside has some moveable/customizable elements, and it is worth experimenting with them to get the most of the space (we were used to a larger machine). For instance, you may not want to take up shelf space with the bulky egg holder, and the wine rack is best placed away from the area where you want to store large containers.The dual controls come factory set at "4" and that has worked well for us: Ice cream is firm but not a block of ice, and the food in the fridge is the right temp.Some negatives:The freezer drawer is rather hard to open--it takes enough heft that before we loaded up with food we actually moved the refrigerator when we pulled on the drawer.The ice maker has a large bin that takes up a lot of freezer space. It makes a huge amount of ice before shutting off, more than most people would have use for. Finally a word about the stainless steel front: It is delicate. The manufacturer warns you not to use paper towels, because they will scratch it!It has a visible horizontal grain that will be marred by practically anything, including ketchup.This makes no sense in a kitchen, and a stainless steel appliance should have the qualities we are used to in stainless steel.I've only had this refrigerator for a couple of weeks, so my 4 stars are based on its performance to date and on its appealing exterior. Our last refrigerator (a Kenmore) had its sealed system fail after only 6 years, so it remains to be seen if this Maytag will be any more long lived or trouble free. It has only a one year warranty, so we certainly hope that that isn't a portent.

I don't really think it's louder than my side by side 10 yr old Whirlpool, but the hum is a little higher pitched and just loud enough to be annoying.
The beautiful, shinny black finish scratches easily. I put up a drawing made by my 2 year old and moved the magnet slightly to straighten the drawing, and scratched the finish. It's not noticeable unless you catch it in just the right light, but enough that I will not be putting anything else on the front of the frig.
Otherwise, I love this frig, way better than my side by side that is suppose to be the same size inside. This model does not have the water dispenser, and that is why I got it; instead of the RF266 which has the inside water dispenser.. or the RF267 with the dispensers in the door. The ice maker is hidden in the freezer; if I took out the ice tray you wouldn't see the ice maker and it doesn't take up any useable space inside. It is SO much easier and nicer to get to the ice that we actually use ice for the first time in years. You do have to open the freezer, but the ice is easy to see to see, there is a scooper in a holder in front of the ice bucket, and the bucket is easy to remove if you want a lot of ice or need to clean it. Best of all, It is way easier to see and find everything in the freezer. I was afraid it would be harder because things would be stacked; but there is so much more room in this freezer, I didn't have to stack anything. My completely loaded freezer from the side by side is neatly tucked away in my new freezer with EVERYTHING accessible I have all the small stuff in the top drawer, juices in the front, tilt shelf and larger items in the two large compartments. Nothing is on top of anything else, leaving so much more room in the freezer.
All the door racks in the frig are gallon size and the shelves are all glass. You can arrange the shelves so that they go across the entire frig, or split them and have different height selves on either side. I have some going all the way across for large cakes and party trays, and some split so I have the height I need for a 2 1/2 gal water container.
This frig is the same wideth as my side by side but it's a little taller and deeper, but somehow it doesn't stick out more than my older side by side, I'm not sure why. I did a lot of reading about these french door refrigerators and choose this one because of the high ratings and the fact that it is listed as having the most USABLE interior space inside (of any french door or side by side of the same size - 26 cu ft). I bought mine at Lowes, on sale for just over $1000 plus $110 in tax and an extended 5 year warranty for $119. I couldn't believe the price. This frig is well worth the full retail price. I highly recommend it.

GE Profile Stainless Steel 22.2 Cu. Ft. Bottom-Freezer Refrigerator Review

I upgraded from the standard freezer on top and no water dispenser or ice maker and this review is coming from that perspective.

We bought this fridge because of the dimensions that fit our space.We couldn't get the standard 35 3/4 in width fridge.We looked at LG and the thing I like about this fridge is the internal water dispenser.It means that you do not need to lose any interior space.I'm glad I didn't get the LG because the loss of door space would have been a problem.The ice maker is in the freezer (no crushed ice) and works fast.It makes 100 cubes a day.

The interior space seems to be the same actual space as the old fridge but there are many configuration options making better use of the space, possibly.Not sure if it really makes a difference.

The thing I like the most is the fact that I do not need to bend down to see what's in the fridge.

A few other things that I'd like to mention because I have seen them in other reviews:
Noise: More than a fridge without an ice maker not really noticeable.
Energy efficiency: Seems OK.
Stainless steel: Get the stainless steel spray cleaner (not the wipes).Does a great job keeping the prints off.
Ice maker: Cranks out the ice.Once I think the there-is-enough-ice sensor didn't detect that the ice was full.You can turn off the ice maker so no biggie.
Water dispenser: It has an easy to change filter accessible inside the fridge.Water tastes excellent.The first gallon or so had a plastic taste (I also used a plastic water line) but it went away.I hear this is common.
Freezer drawers: There are three.It seems ok.Very different from the old top freezer.I like it but it makes you pack more efficiently so you can slide the drawers.This tends to force you to pay attention to what you have in the freezer rather than just tightly packing it in like in the old days.

Overall I am very happy with the fridge and would recommend it to anyone.I realized that after I bought the fridge that there was a model with an external water dispenser that doesn't take any space away from the interior (ice maker is still in the freezer). Had this been available when I bought it, I may have opted for it.Still I have no regrets.

Samsung : RB195ABBP 19 cu. ft. Bottom Mount Refrigerator - Black Pearl Review

This is probably my favorite refrigerator I have owned and is exactly what I needed.I have had no problems so far but then again I have only had it for about six months but so far so good.If something does happen I will update this review.I do not recommend buying this online since you need to see for yourself if its for you.I bought the black version at Best Buy and it was about one hundred dollars cheaper as well which is nice.All your controls for the freezer and refrigerator temperature are on the front between the two doors almost in the middle.The child locks are a very nice feature to have as well since my kids can't seem to leave the attractive blue numbers on it alone.I like that feature as well being able to see the current temperature and if the freezer door is open too long and the temperature begins to drop you hear a tiny warning beep.I don't use the ice maker so I can't really comment on that.The vegetable crisper in the bottom of it is nice as well and we have had our produce last longer now than with our older model.It has knobs on the crisper's to allow how much air flow to allow but whether it actually does anything too special is not really known.

When I first got the refrigerator I noticed what it lacks in the depth of it, it makes up for in the width.I did notice everything is kind of a tight fit if I have too much but you can always store milk and juice and all that on the door shelves since there is room for it.So far though this refrigerator has plenty of space for what I need.

My couple gripes is with the black model finger prints show up really bad since it uses a shiny black and everything shows up.The freezer is kind of a tight fit and its not really as big as I like.There are two shelves in the freezer and since I have two kids sometimes the amount of food I can keep in the freezer becomes a problem.Than again a great way to fix that is just not spend so much but its easier to get what I need from grocery shopping in one trip.

Make sure you get the measurements since from what I have heard from people who sale refrigerators is a lot of people picks them out and wind up not having the space for it.This refrigerator pretty much fit the space I had perfectly in width, length and depth.

Overall I really recommend this refrigerator just make sure you look at it first.
