Vector 12-Volt Portable Mini Fridge Cooler & Warmer AC/DC Refridgerator Review

I've had one of these for two and a half years. It's worked very well considering that it's been running continuously for that entire time.Well, it died today and I'm planning on buying another. If you're thinking, "but it died after only two and half years" consider that it's been under a desk for the entire time, running non-stop. Also consider that my wife has the same model which has been running continuously for over five years. It just plain works.

Running continously, it does have to be "defrosted" every two weeks or so. Simply turn the unit off for five or ten minutes and pull the ice off of the cooling platter. It's really no big deal. It's also rather quiet with just a small vent fan.

It can be used as a stand up or on its side as a chest (which is what I did). On it's side it'll hold a six pack of drinks.

Danby DCR326BSL 3.1-Cu.Ft. Dual Door Compact Fridge with Freezer, Black/Stainless Review

I've had this refrigerator about three months and it works fine. However, when moving it, I apparently lifted it by the top and broke a plastic part that connects the top to the unit. Warranty doesn't cover plastic parts after 30 days. They gave me phone number to order replacement parts but I gave up after being on hold for one hour.

New Mini Fridge Compact Refrigerator University of Texas Longhorns Review

My husband is the biggest Texas Longhorn fan in the world.That's why when I saw this mini fridge online I new it was perfect for his man's room.So far it has been working just fine.It cools just fine, not overly loud when running but the light is pretty bright.Just wish that it had a light switch to turn off and on but it makes a good nightlight.

Danby Silhouette Compact All Refrigerator - Black Review

I'd read some reviews on other sites for this model about how lots of people had to adjust the temp because their drinks were too cold (or even freezing).Since that's how cold I want my fridge to be able to cool, I bought one.The other reviews were right!The unit is advertised to keep a temp that's 40 degrees cooler than the surrounding temp. I can testify it does that and more.I have this in in an office environment at work, which is always near 70 degrees.The first time I got this fridge running it cooled down to the high 20's - my drinks were partially frozen and undrinkable.That means this fridge is capable of cooling to a little more than 40 degrees than it's surrounding temp. Perfect!I merely adjusted the temp a little so now it hovers around the low 30's.That means I can depend on my drinks being ice-cold.The knob for adjusting the temp is in the back, so it's a little hard to reach.But fortunately it's near the top, so you don't need to pull out the fridge to reach it. You just have to crouch down all the way and reach over the top.

I work in southern California where it's now in the 90's outside, so it's aweseome when I'm hot and sweaty to be able to open up my fridge and pull out an ice-cold drink.I'm actually going to buy another one for home!

The only problem I had is the first one arrived defective - didn't cool at all.The vendor arranged a UPS pick-up (fortunately I'd kept the packaging - it was dead out of the box) and within a few short days the replacement unit arrived.It's worked perfectly since.

good little refrigerator holds a couple of lunches. don't rely on it for ice making the freezer door doesn't close and the condensation from the freezer leaks water on to a driptray that fills quickly.
It's also a little hard to move given the size and weight there are no handles and the coolant pipe on the back of the fridge stick out quite a bit be careful it could be broken easily.

Igloo FR180 1.7-Cu-Ft Stainless Steel Door Refrigerator Review

For the most part, this refridgerator has done a good job keeping the drinks cold, and the size is reasonable: small on the outside, big on the inside, perfect for the dorm room. The interior is sound and the temperature is very cold, even on the minimum setting.

So why did it lose three stars? Because of one minor flaw, and one serious problem. The minor flaw is that while the fridge keeps the things inside cold, the top and sides get uncomfortably warm. Not enough to set anything on fire, but definitely not the thing you want to put your bare hand on for long. Good if you want to keep lunch warm though.

As for the serious problem-- the pipe in the back gets really, really cold. After running this for three weeks, my mother noticed that the fridge was leaking water. Upon further inspection, I noticed that it wasn't a leak...it was water dripping from MELTING ICE THAT HAD FORMED around one of the pipes in the back of the fridge, just outside of the insulation that had wrapped around the pipe. The chunk was about an inch and a half in diameter, and looked like a chunk of white foam wrapped around the pipe.

It took me 15 minutes to ease the ice off, then as I was inspecting the pipe under the insulating cover, another chunk of ice popped out. All told, it took about 20 minutes to get the mess handled, but I'm glad my mother noticed the water dripping when she did, otherwise, I fear that the fridge might have short circuited and cost us $100 in the process.

EDIT: In regards to the ice--the refridgerator's parts seem to be watertight, so you don't have to worry about the ice harming it. I do recommend that, should you buy this fridge, to either put some foam/insulation around the pipe to reinforce the one already present, or, more simply, just putting a tray under the ice to catch the drips.
