SAMSUNG RF267ABRS 26CF FR DR STNGS 1W ESTR Review

I was going to buy a side by side samsung model but my inlaws beat me to the punch and gifted us this really nice fridge.

Don't get confused w\ my 3 star review... the fridge is really nice, I'd never have bought a $2000+ refridgerator! but... it was a gift, what can you do ?!

So, why only 3 stars?

The Ice Maker is absolutely horrid.One morning I was drinking from a plastic cup and i'd been drinking it... all of a sudden i notice some white shavings in my cup.Turns out, it was white plastic shavings from the icemaker.We had a broken piece and it was pushing shaved pieces of plastic out w\ the ice.They came out looked at it, and shipped us a new ice tray.

I have a feeling that the crushed ice is most of the problem, because it leaves crushed ice at the edge which then melts and drips down...The icemaker sits in the refrigerator portion which naturally is warmer so as not to freeze you food.So, ice in the icemaker is constantly melting and dripping to the 1/4 inch deep "gutter" they have in the dispenser area.It is to the point that when I get home and open the fridge, there is almost definitely a pool of water on top of the bottom freezer door, and probably on the ground too.This is an absolute pain to have to clean up every single day.It also seems to have a rough time transitioning from crushed to cubed, and often times is very slow to dispense ice.

And now, slightly disturbing... One night, I noticed some kind of orange/reddish liquid on my cup when I was getting ice.I opened the door to inspect and it's rust from what I think is the ice crushing fixture.So, this too has to be cleaned every few days and I'm not sure that's very healthy to have rust in my icemaker.

Another poor design is the water dispenser which is at an angle inwards toward the fridge, so forget about filling a water bottle with cold filtered water... you're just going to make a mess and get water all over the place for sure.

The fridge is roomy, it has some very nice features both in the fridge and in the freezer...It's much bigger than what my wife and I were using for the past couple of years.So to wrap it up.This is a really nice refridgerator.It has alot of room and some nice featurs like shelves that lift up if you need to fit taller things there.It is really nice ! BUUUUT... The icemaker sucks and it was poorly designed.I wish it included some sort of drainage to take care of the water that is constantly accumulating on my floor from overflow.The only way to fix this would be to turn the icemaker off and not use it, or to set the refidgerator to 32 degrees and thereby have a 26 cubic foot freezer in order to keep the constantly melting ice under control.

GE GSHS6PGYSS Review

I am a little biased as a relative helps make GE motors.I have owned this for 5 months now.It replaced a used Frigidaire I had for a short time, which was 14 years old.It really replaced a very old, very small top freezer refrigerator I had for 16 years.

The GE is quiet.The compressor makes little noise.It is on the wall opposite our bedroom.I do not hear it in the bedroom.It's not an annoying noise.It is just barely audible in the kitchen.

This is real stainless.Keeping it fingerprint clean is a chore with young kids.We just let it go and clean it on the weekend.Takes about 10 minutes or so using stainless cleaner to make it sharp again.Without kids this would probably not be an issue.

The water maker and ice maker work very well.The filter gives the water a good taste.

The layout of the compartments is excellent for our needs, as you can see by the pictures.It has more than enough room for our use.

If we overload the freezer, the door will sometimes not completely close.The door open sensor does not always sense this.This results in ice build up inside the freezer, and condensation on the outside. Don't overload the freezer and this doesn't happen.

We got an excellent deal on this model.I feel we got a great fridge for the money.

GE PGCS1PJXSS 20.7CF French-Door Refrigerator W/ Armoire Double Drawer Review

I recently purchased the expensive GE 25 cu ft stainless frig with french doors and two bottom freezer drawers for my new home.The right door has to be slammed to close it when the left door is already closed.Whenever I go back to open the frig I notice it is sticking open.It is a design flaw that two service techs have verified.I have been battling GE for three weeks to give me a different model/type frig that actually works with no luck so far.The customer service department goes through the motions but will not acknowlege the flaw and do the right thing.The best I can hope for is to get a replacement of the same model with the same problem.

Be sure to test your GE french door frig in a showroom before making such a big purchase or you may regret it, like me.No other brands of french door frigs have this problem.The Maytag french door models, also sold under Whirlpool and KitchenAid brands, have a good reputation.

Maytag : MFC2061HEW 20 Cu. Ft. Refrigerator - White Review

We bought our unit on 09/01/2005.
On 09/27/2005, we had our first service call: "Temp in upper part of unit is at 63 degrees; adjust damper." (I'm copying this from the receipt.)
On 10/11/2005, we had our second service call: "Unit no longer dispenses water."
On 11/17/2005, we had our third service call: "Water dispenser froze up after 10/11 service."
On 12/08/2005, we had our fourth service call: "Water dispenser frozen again."
On 12/29/2005, we had our fifth service call: "Water dispenser is freezing again."
On 02/14/2006, we had our sixth service call: "Water tank freezing. Tech adv to replace control board."
Upon replacement of the electronic control board, the problems ceased.
Needless to say, however, we were not pleased with having to deal with these issues, which spanned a period of five months. In all fairness, the issues were covered by the warranty, which Maytag agreed to extend an additional six months. However, I cannot in good conscience recommend the unit.

LG Kitchen Series : LFX25980ST 24.7 cu. ft. Freestanding French Door Refrigerator - Stainless Steel Review

When we remodeled our kitchen in 2006 we had the following criteria for our new refrigerator: counter depth, water dispenser in the door and ice maker (not necessarily in the door)
After many hours of research, both online and at different stores we selected an LG French door model with freezer on the bottom.

After it was installed we noticed that the temperature showed over 90 degrees, whereas the room was about 72 degrees. Also the water dispenser flowed very slowly. According to the manual you were supposed to pull out the unit and vacuum the back. Since the unit had just been installed we called support and they referred us to the authorized tech who came out to check it. He then told us that the fridge is designed to be free-standing in the room, not "pushed" in the space between the cabinets. And then the temperature gauge would function correctly. Note - the unit is NOT built-in. The water trickle from the dispenser was working as designed.

About one year later, yes, right as the warranty had expired in 2007, a small, thumbnail sized plastic tab broke off the bottom wide drawer- almost $300.00 in parts and labor to replace.

A few weeks ago, in September 2009, the plastic frame that holds the bottom glass shelf (over the two half size drawers) broke in the front left corner and it is now held together with duct tape. Two weeks later another tiny plastic part that holds the lid to the left most drawer.

When it comes to the general construction and design of the drawers it is substandard and LG should be ashamed of themselves. The half drawers are designed for fruits and veggies, but if you put anything heavier than lettuce in them, they fall off the convoluted rails and you need an engineering degree to put them back in.

Support and customer service assures us that we are the only ones ever complaining about this. Replacing plastic parts is `standard maintenance'. It seems the design of metal rails and bars in combination with tiny plastic tabs and attachments is a very bad combination

If you put bottles weighing too much in the doors they do not close properly and you have to give them an extra forceful push. LG service and support has not provided any service, just excuses.

On a scale of 1-10 we put LG at about a minus 5- never fully functioning, insufficient materials design, and poor service satisfaction.

LG : LSC27910TT Refrigerator Review

Their reputation is holding...actually getting worse in my opinion...

Their customer service was always poor, but I just didn't realize how poor....and I'm not even going to elaborate on the dropped calls, the false promises of return calls, and the unwillingness to resolve the situation, I'll just report on the poor quality of the product...

Bought the LG LSC27910TT in July of 2008.Within 2 mo. the refrigerator was holding 62F on the coldest setting and the freezer was at -20F at the warmest setting.Basically, there was a damper that wasn't sending cold air to the fridge and it was sending the humid air into the freezer, so frost was collecting very quickly in the freezer.It took 4wks to get a newLSC27910TT from LG.They sent me a new one due to the part being backordered....which means what???Yes....this is a common issues with this model.....very common.So...it will take a minimum of 4wks for you to get a replacement fridge if you have this issue.

Now....onto the new one.They sent a new one, not refurbed, but new.And yes....this one is now broken.The ice cube flap on the door (which works via a motor) will not open when ice falls to the door....so it's jammed every time. Sent for replacement parts....turned out not repairable.Meanwhile, talking to LG is like talking to my 8wk old....I actually get more of a response from him.I wanted a new model.No dice!!!They wanted to charge me 1/2 the difference.A good try, but I'm not throwing any more of my money LG's way.

I still don't have the 3rd fridge, but I sure hope it works!

NEUTRAL:bottom freezer means fridge contents easy to see/access but freezer contents hard to see and older contents buried.shallow.

PROS:Attractive as these things go. Fits our space.Digital thermometers.Pleasant chimes sound out when pressing buttons. It seems to refrigerate and freeze enthusiastically and it is quieter than its predecessor. I trust it won't piddle on the floor like its predecessor did.It hasn't yet.

CONS:(i) Pull-out freezer door mechanism is very rough, metal scraping on metal. Floor models and most IKEA drawers perform better. QC?(ii)"EZ-Open Handle" on freezer drawer tends to detach in ordinary use."EZ-Broken Handle" is nearer the mark.This looks like it may be a design flaw.This didn't happen with the floor models, but it didn't occur to me that the handle should fall off, so I never thought to push the point while in the store.(iii) there are very few shelf height adjustments allowed.Consequently we removed one of the shelfs in order to fit milk and other ordinary-sized bottles.

This refrigerator is garbage. It broke within the first 2 months. I lost all the food in the fridge because it failed overnight and when I woke up everything was warm. Hundreds of dollars worth of food in the garbage. To make matters worse it's going to take Samsung 3 weeks to get the parts to fix it. So I paid $900 for a fridge I can't use, lost over $200 dollars worth of food when it failed, and now I cant buy any food because I have no place to store it. HORRIBLE service by Samsung because they don't have the parts readily available to fix their products. I could not regret buying this refrigerator anymore, and now I'm stuck with it. Samsung makes great TVs, but horrible refrigerators. Buyers should avoid.

Samsung : RF266ABBP 26 cu. ft. French-Door Refrigerator - Black Pearl Review

The manual that came with this fridge did not match the actual model. Tech support (Samsung)
was useless in setting up the fridge electronics. You'll have to google for proper instructions.
Icemaker tends to get knocked into the ice tray occassionally but a very good, spacious design.
I did not know how I would like water inside rather than in the door, but I have come to like this
design better than in the door models now.

Lucky for me it was before the warranty ended, not so lucky for me & 4 to 5 visits from the store repairman I believe my problems still have not been resolved. The weird thing is, my model number is GSH22JSXSA, yet its the same side by side using the model number GSH22JSXSS. No repair person can figure out why my model number ends in SA instead of SS, and yes my side by side is stainless steel so that's not it. One repair guy said he believes it is just a newer model as an explaination for this diversion, however plug the model in and nothing, absolutely nothing comes up as that model number. Ok, on to the problems. My s/s started freezing up every thing inside, and melt occured along the front of the door and along the sides which would of course freeze over. I had frozen drips hanging from the shelves and snow covered foods so thick you had to melt it off by running under warm water to know what was in those packages. The first repairman said the situation inside was our fault and occured due to leaving the door open. However, that was not the case, but he over-rode any thing I had to say to the contrary; was rude and very disrespectful. I work or probably would have noticed something that was happening with the s/s sooner. One day during the weekend I happened to open up the freezer section and actually felt heat. Now that was odd. I noticed moisture along the walls of the freezer section as every thing was melting and no evaporation of this moisture occured. The freezer section was really hot towards the top above the ice bin, melting the icecubes causing the half ice and water to coagulate around the auger. The defroster/heater wasn't turning off in a timely manner and melting everything. Weirder yet, after this thaw or what I called intermittent freezer hot flashes, the freezer would go to the opposite extreme of too cold refreezing all the foods stored there even at a setting of 1. Guess what, the door wasn't left opened and hey GE I discovered it wasn't our fault. On several occasions I smelled a burning scent and when I opened the freezer during an especially strong smell of something burning, the heat was more intense from within and the light bulb inside blew up. Not just burn out, it exploded and shards of tiny pieces of glass were on my food in the freezer and my feet on the floor. I still don't know why this happened, other than what the repair person said that the heaterwasn't working right and stays on too long.Heat rises and ice melts. He didn't seem concerned that this might be a safety issue, the defroster running too long doesn't explain the burning scent and why the light bulb disintegrated. Not to mention what could have happened if I had young children under foot. Mother board replaced, thermostat & sensor replaced, heater replaced, ice cube maker replaced. Once these things were fixed, well sort of, after months of ice cubes melting to the auger so ice didn't dispense I was advised after the last fix that the cubes should dispense just fine. Well the ice cubes still aren't being dispensed. I noticed after the last fix last Friday, ice cubes are not melting, staying separate, and so far no intense heat aka hot flashes. I can't say the freezer is running optimally, not yet... its still running colder than it should even at a setting of 1 "but" I haven't noticed burning smells recently, no snow is covering my foods, there are no frozen drips hanging from the shelves or icecycles along the sides and front. Its only been 3 days so all I can say is we will see. But I have to admit, I'm a bit afraid of this appliance, whether it will possibly heat up again and maybe cause a fire, I worry that the light bulb will explode again, I wonder if it will ever work like it should, & I'm hoping I didn't waste the money I spent to buy it. I had a choice, and picked this GE model out of many other brands. All my appliances are GE and all have been quality. GE, what happened with this s/s, what's going on?

Fisher and Paykel : E522BRXU Bottom-Freezer Refrigerator (Right Hinge) Review

I bought my house, and found that the previous owners had done their own kitchen remodel which left a really strange size cutout for the fridge.It took me weeks to find this one which (as far as I can tell) is the only counter depth and narrow refrigerator.Anyway, it is a good fridge.No complaints.The fridge is cool looking, but the only reason that I can think someone would buy this one is for size.If you aren't restricted by size, I would look at a wider fridge.

Good things to know... There is an inline water filter (works good, easy to change), ice maker doesn't take up too much room, the fridge is counter depth (they don't advertise it as such but you can tell by the dimensions and the back is flat).The inside is small but the fridge doesn't look freakishly small.Oh, the ice maker is temperamental; it doesn't bother me but if you love ice this could be a problem.

Almost no one carries these; if you need to "see" it I found a Samsungat the big box retailers that is about the same size.If more than two people live in your house, or you like to buy big soda bottles, etc., maybe take a peek at something with similar dimensions before you buy.

LG : LFC25770SW Refrigerator Review

Four months ago we purchased an LG LFC25770SW French Door Refrigerator.My husband & I LOVE this appliance.The refrigerator is very well designed & constructed.We've never had an ice box with such well used and easily accessible space.This baby holds a TON of food.
The french door design with freezer below is ideal for us.We can find things easily - no more old-very-old food lost in the recesses.The temperature settings are right there at the top front of the refrigerator when you open the door and they're digital.It's the cold we want it to be, exactly, and all the time.
Best feature is the freezer.There's a huge bin at the bottom and a slide out shelf above. When you open it everything is right there and it holds the cold in while you're browsing for the package you need.The ice maker (ours is inside the freezer not in the door) is trouble free and is tucked up in the far upper left corner of the freezer, taking very little space.
Overall, this is the best refrigerator we've EVER had.Four months later we still comment to each other about how much we like it. Definitely recommend it.Definitely would purchase it again.

We purchased this refrigerator several months ago when the one in our new Coop broke down.We did not shop around, but my husband and I both felt that "you really can't go wrong with GE" as we have purchased GE refrigerators and stoves before when we upgraded other properties we owned.Boy were we wrong.As soon as the refrigeator arrived we noticed that the quality was poor.Where do I begin????there is an awkward seam down the back of the fridge that is not even centered and looks as though someone glued two pieces together.The clean steel scratches easily and if you look at at the top of the refrigerator you will note that the steel was applied as a sheet that covers only the front of the door and does not extend all the way to the edges (poor workmanship).The water/ice dispenser sticks some times.The glass inside the refrigerator is terrible quality and scratches easily.The same goes for the door compartments.Really, the quality is so bad that it makes me angry to think that we paid $1,750 total including taxes and delivery.I would have gladly paid more for a quality product.Again, we have owned other GE refrigerators that did not have these problems.

LG : LSC27931ST 26.5 cu. ft. Side-by-Side Refrigerator - Stainless Steel Review

We had 2 service call for owning it in less than a month.
Finally we had a replacement having it for less than 3 months.
In 11 months, the compressor starts making louder than normal noise.
No ice coming out after 11 months.
It looks good but it does not perform so good.

Luckily we have a 3 years extended warranty when buying it at Sears.

Bottom line: not recommended.

GFSS2HCYSS General Electric French Door Freestanding Refrigerator Review

We like our GE "French Door" fridge. It looks good and works fine. But don't think of getting it without the insurance plan. We've had to replace the central "brain". We've had to replace a door latch. We are getting ready now to call for a new shelf and crisper track because both have broken.
I would guess that without the insurance we would soon have put as much in repairs as we paid for the fridge. However, ours was a brand new model, and perhaps they have worked some of the bugs out. We love it. We really have no complaints. Just be sure you take the insurance when it's offered. And you can be sure we'll be renewing our policy when it expires. The service has been excellent.
