I did not receive a mounting bracket, screws or instructions.Luckily, the screws and mounting bracket from my old unit fit flawlessly on the new one and it only took a little fiddling around to figure out how to remove/replace it.The unit is making ice, and I have no complaints there.So I guess the moral of the story is don't bother to pay extra for an exact fit - all of these units seem to be widely used with a variety of mounting hardware.

Whirlpool/Kenmore Deluxe Water Filter (4396508-3pack) Review

These are the standard filters used in many refrigerators like my Whirlpool. They filter all the water used in the ice maker and the in-door water dispenser just as you would expect them to do.

The 3-pack of these is a great maoney saving costing only about $5 more than buying two of them individually.

They only rate about a 4 in the star system because they never last as long as Whirlpool says they should. The owner's manual says about 5-6 months with the sort of use we put them to, and the "change me" light comes on at about the 5 month time, and the water flow through begins to diminish about the same time. But, changing the filter at the 4-month point keeps the water taste top notch. Waiting that extra month or so gives you water that isn't as clean tasting.

Ah, well. At least you save money buying in bulk.

Whirlpool GI7FVCXWB Bottom Freezer Refrigerator In Black Review

We've had our black Whirlpool Gold Latitude (model GI7FVCXWB) refrigerator for three months.We purchased it in February of 2010.We give this refrigerator a five star rating.

This refrigerator is everything we wanted.We love that we no longer need measuring cups for adding water to a recipe. The door shelves are wide enough for gallon bottles.Both the refrigerator and freezer are huge.We had a second freezer because the top freezer on our previous refrigerator was so small.I have unplugged the second freezer because it is no longer needed.

The ability of the ice maker to dispense cubes or crushed ice is great.Although I've seen some complaints regarding the noise level of the ice maker, it is no louder than any other refrigerator ice maker.The noise level does not draw your attention to it nor does it drown out conversations or cause any other distress.

My only complaint is with the Owner's Manual.The refrigerator has a door ajar alarm.Unfortunately, the Owner's Manual does not provide good instructions for turning the alarm on.Once, I figure out how to set the door ajar alarm, we will have no concerns with our black Whirlpool Gold Latitude.

This refrigerator started having problems from the very first day.There was too much water condensation in the area around the ice maker.In certain areas outside of the icemaker, there was ice build-up. The seal between the icemaker and the ice holder was not working properly. There was a lot of water condensation between the two doors in the area around the seals.The service people who came to look at this said these problems were not normal.They said two major parts have to replaced.I have decided to replace this with a brand new model instead on having the one we bought serviced.I hope the new one works okay.If not, I am going to cancel the order and buy another refrigerator. It is a very expensive model (more than $ 2,500) and should have these problems like this.

Summit : FF1325SS 10.4 cu. ft. Counter-Depth Top-Freezer Refrigerator - Stainless Steel Doors Review

I purchased this fridge because I had a tiny kitchen.On a cu ft basis it is one of the most expensive fridges you can buy.I have redone 3 kitchens in the past 5 years, and have spent about $30,000 on appliances.I have never seen such poor quality.The MAIN problem is that the refrigerator slopes--the bottom is 2" further away from the wall than the top even after I adjust the legs as far into the cavity as possible--it looks like a s___ show.I called Mark Goldman (Summit customer service) to help solving the problem. First he claimed this was how the fridge was designed--the door should close slowly.I said it doesn't--it SLAMS shut.Then clearly demonstrating the design story was invalid, Mark told me I could build up my floor with shims!I said that was ridiculous for $1000 fridge (it's $300 extra for the icemaker).He said I needed proof there was a problem, so I sent an email with a photo of the slanted fridge and a photo of a 36" level on the floor to show it was level (i tried to paste photos here, but can't).Under pressure from the retailer, Summit sent a service rep.The service rep agreed the floor was level and the legs were into the cavity, so there was nothing he could do to fix the problem--that there was clearly a manufacturing or design flaw.When Summit received this information, they said since it wasn't a MANUFACTURING flaw (it was the design flaw--so ALL fridges will have the same problem), they weren't required to do anything about it.So I'm living with the problem.
As an aside, the rest of the quality is no better.the produce drawer is plastic and doesn't slide on the guides well, so soon it will break no matter how careful I am.

Whirlpool Monochromatic Satina Side-By-Side Counter Depth Refrigerator Review

We just purchased this refrigerator and are loving the extra space we have in our kitchen with the counter depth design. However, the ice maker gets ice caught up in it after dispensing into a glass and the caught cubes melt and run down the front of the refrigerator. Also, we have similar problems with the water dispenser. The water continues to drip from the dispenser after filling a glass causing it to run down the dispensing flap and down the front of the refrigerator, causing a puddle on the floor. The dispenser shelf itself is not very deep and is a poor design. I'm also having trouble getting accustomed to the storage shelves in the refrigerator door. The very bottom (unadjustable) door shelf is so slim, the only possible thing you could use it for is a kid's juice box which makes it useless for myself and my husband. It fits absolutely nothing else! The three top door shelves adjust and hold gallon milk containers, but it could use one more lower notch to make them more useful for tall items. The fourth adjustable shelf is shallower. The overall space inside of the refrigerator & freezer is fine for us. I just wish we could've seen one of these models in person before we ordered it.

Whirlpool Gold : GX5FHDXVQ 24.8 cu. ft. French Door Refrigerator - White Review

Got the GX5SHDXV model, similar to the one shown, about a week ago. It was originally $1298 at Lowes, but the floor model had paint scratches, so they marked it down to $1k. Lowes delivered it (an adventure in itself) but I installed it and set it up. So far so good, it's quiet, makes lots of ice quickly, and has the Energy Star qualification that should save $$ on my electric bill.
There is only one gallon storage shelf in the door; I wrote Whirlpool to send me another to replace the can dispenser shelf that I won't use.
The refrigerator drawers slide nicely, as does the freezer compartment drawer.
The paint finish is very good, once I cleaned off all the tape residue from Lowes (why do they do that?) I used auto detailing spray to make it shine.

I am pretty disappointed with this refrigerator.

First, I am really amazed at how small the ice storage is.I don't know about models where the ice maker is in the bottom with the freezer but for our model where the ice maker is in the door we only get about 1/3 the capacity of ice compared to our last refrigerator.I know this for certain because we still have that fridge in our basement and I actually used the new ice maker to fill the old ice box.This means for any small gathering you are going to have to get extra ice!

Secondly, we paid the premium price to get the Whirlpool name and after only seven months old we have a repair call.The unit has a digital thermostat on the door for the refrigerator portion but even when set at 40 degrees we have frozen solid orange juice and it ruined the leafy vegetables.We had steaks thawing on the counter but they were frozen solid after a night back in the fridge.

Finally, the whole French Door thing was kind of interesting but after having one I'd rather have the side by side back.I use the freezer a lot and I hate constantly bending over to get things.With the side by side I kept what I used most (fridge or freezer) at the most convenient height.)

Some bright spots are that it has a door ajar alarm.Especially good when you have kids.

Whirlpool 8171414 KitchenAid Side By Side Refrigerator Internal Cyst Reducing Water Filter Review

We have a LOT of particulates in our water and this flter does a fantastic job.Unfortunately performance drops quickly, reducing flow to an annoyingly slow drizzle.If you have a lot of particles and are not concerned with cysts etc, you may want to downgrade to the 8171413 which is also effective with chlorine and lead reduction but seems to last far longer before flow is restricted.

PUR PBSS Push-Button Refrigerator Ice and Water Filter Cartridge Review

It seems there are a LOT of misuderstandings in these reviews.If you own a Sears refridgerator it IS a Whirlpool, or Kitchen Aid, or whatever else with a "Kenmore" name plate on it.Sears doesn't make their appliances and they purchase appliance from varios companys and put their "Kenmore" brand on it.I have a Whirlpool fridge, Whirlpool dishwaher, and GE microwave.They all say Kenmore and the stainless stell matches perfectly.A Sears sales rep will tell you who makes the specific unit.This is true for Kenmore washers & dryers as well, all appliance.Secondly, Whirlpool, Kitchen Aid, Kenmore, etc. do not make the filters.Sears, Whirlpool, etc. sell the filter with their markings on it.PUR make the filter.This is not a cheaper replacement for the filter, it is the same filter.I have been using PUR filters bought on-line for 5 years now and it is the same filter that came in the refridgerator when I bought it.The only thing to keep in mind is that the "universal PUR Filter", that fits all push button, in the grill units, does not have the same filtration as the the specific PUR filter that comes with the fridge.For example the "Universal" filter is about $26 on Amazon and my fridge came with a PUR 4396710 which cost about $32 on Amazon.Both will work, but the $32 unit filters out about 11 types of impurities, the $26 unit is 4 types. I buy the 4396710 to protect my 2 year old and wife.What is $7 more when it's your family's health.They are about $50 each at Sears.

I hope this information helps clear up some misconceptions and helps people make an educated decision on what to buy.

We purchased a new Whirlpool refrigerator earlier this year.The new refrigerator has all the marvelous improvements developed in the last ten years for refrigerators, including a water filter.

The water filter really does deliver better water.However, the water filter seems quite expensive to me.Whirlpool, and other manufacturer's that use this type of filter, recommend the filter be replaced twice a year, whether you need to replace the filter or not.

The filter is relatively easy to replace, but be aware of what happens when you pull the filter.To remove the old filter you push a button next to the filter, typically to the left of the filter.Then pull on the cap covering the filter and pull the filter out.Make a note of how the filter was oriented when you pull it out.

The filter will now begin dripping water, so have a paper towel or small bowl available to let the water drip into.You can either let the filter finish dripping into a sink, or throw it into a plastic bag that you can seal to keep the water from dripping out of the bag.Be sure you remove the cover from the filter before you toss it.On our Whirlpool the cover twists counterclockwise for removal.

Install the filter cover onto the new filter.It takes just a twist to lock it into place.Holding the filter so that the two straight pieces on the end of the filter are vertical, with the open portion of the filter cover oriented on the bottom, slide the new filter straight into the filter cavity until the button on the left clicks to let you know the new filter is locked into place.Note that these instructions are for a Whirlpool, but I believe most other refrigerators are similar.You should be ready to go!

Had I known refrigerator water filters were so expensive I might have gone with a refrigerator without one, though our local water has a lot of chlorine in it (which is filtered out by the filter).

As with many modern conveniences, this water filter represents a convenience that you did not know you needed until you had it.Now that I have it, I am wondering whether I want it since I have to spend a chunk of change each year in filter replacements.Oh well.I guess I can sleep more soundly knowing that the water filter is now removing a bunch of stuff from my water that my body either did not want or need.

This fridge replaced the old one in my apartment because the old one died, and upon it being delivered I was a little worried that it wasn't big enough since it was so much smaller than my old one.My worries were squelched after I started using it, this is a nice space saving refrigerator, perfect for small apartments or bar areas in homes.It has a very deep frost-free freezer with lots of space, one adjustable rack and space in the door as well.The fridge area has two adjustable glass shelves, plenty of space in the door and a nice crisper in the bottom.I love the fact that it has separate temperature controls for the fridge and freezer.This is all I need and more in a great stainless steel look.Definitely worth it if you need a fridge for small spaces or a second smaller one!
